This Privacy Policy explains how My Debt Snowball (the “Service,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects user information. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
a. Information You Provide Directly
When you use the Service, you may voluntarily provide information including:
- Debt names (user-entered labels)
- Debt balances
- Interest rates
- Minimum monthly payments
- User-entered monthly extra payment amounts
- Other calculator-related inputs
This information is used solely to generate payoff calculations and visualizations within the app.
b. Account Information
If you create an account, authentication is handled by Clerk. Clerk may provide us with limited account-related information such as:
- Email address
- Basic profile information (such as name or username, if provided)
Authentication may be performed using third-party single sign-on providers such as Google or Apple. We do not receive access to sensitive personal data from these providers.
c. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect or store:
- Bank account numbers
- Credit card numbers
- Social Security numbers
- Dates of birth
- Physical addresses
- Income information
2. How We Store Information
All user-provided debt and calculator data is stored using Clerk public metadata and is associated with the user’s authenticated account.
- We do not maintain a separate database.
- We do not store user-entered debt data on our own servers.
- Data is retained only to provide calculator functionality.
3. How We Use Information
We use collected information solely to:
- Provide and operate the calculator functionality
- Display debt payoff ordering and projections
- Maintain user accounts and sessions
- Improve site performance and usability
We do not sell user data.
4. Analytics and Usage Data
We use limited analytics tools to understand how the Service is used and to improve functionality:
- Google Search Console (for search performance and indexing insights)
- PostHog (for anonymous usage analytics)
These tools may collect non-identifying information such as page views, device type, or general usage patterns. We do not use analytics to identify individual users or track sensitive behavior.
5. Data Sharing
We share user information only with trusted service providers necessary to operate the Service, including:
- Clerk (authentication and account management)
- AWS Amplify (hosting and infrastructure)
We do not share personal data with advertisers or marketing partners.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
User data is retained only for as long as an account remains active.
- When a user deletes their account, associated data is deleted.
- Users may manage or delete their account directly through the Service.
7. Children’s Privacy
The Service is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what is necessary to provide basic calculator functionality.
If you believe a child has provided personal information and wish to request its deletion, please contact us.
8. International Users
The Service is available to users globally. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be processed and stored using infrastructure located in the United States.
9. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect user information; however, no system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Users should take care to protect their account credentials.
